Overview
At the Rising Bharat Summit 2025, hosted by News18 Network, a landmark initiative unfolded — one that brought together India’s brightest young minds to address the nation’s most pressing challenges.
As part of a powerful lead-up to the summit, News18 editors, university professors, and students across campuses engaged in an intensive dialogue to identify actionable solutions to five key national challenges. The outcome of this effort was compiled into a visionary white paper — the Samadhan Document — which was graciously unveiled by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji during the event.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Anand Narsimhan, Managing Director – Special Projects, News18, shared:
"This white paper brings together the spirit of innovation from across India’s campuses. Organizations like TIEEDI, and those who have brought forward transformative solutions such as the Kalki Bioculture, have worked together to solve for Bharat."
Kalki: A Nature-Based Solution to Revive India’s Rivers
Among the featured innovations was Kalki Bioculture, a nature-based, organic solution for river restoration, presented by a contingent from IIT Kharagpur. The team proposed a three-phase implementation plan to restore the Yamuna River — one of India’s most iconic yet critically polluted rivers — without the use of heavy machinery, synthetic chemicals, or major infrastructure investments.
This method, based on the regenerative principles of ecology and microbial science, presents a scalable and sustainable pathway to rejuvenate India’s rivers at a fraction of the current environmental and economic cost.
Backed by Field Results: Ram Nadi Case Study
To reinforce their proposal, the IIT team showcased the successful application of Kalki Bioculture in the Ram Nadi restoration project in Pune, implemented in collaboration with the Persistent Foundation (CSR arm of Persistent Systems). The results demonstrated measurable improvements in water quality, natural flow, microbial balance, and community awareness — laying the groundwork for replicability at scale.
From Vision to National Dialogue
The inclusion of Kalki Bioculture in the Samadhan Document, and its presentation before the Hon’ble Prime Minister, marks a significant milestone for the environmental and scientific community advocating for nature-led climate solutions. It reflects a growing recognition of grassroots innovation and the critical role that youth, academia, and civil society must play in shaping the future of Bharat. A Moment of Gratitude
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Director, the Head of the Dept. of Architecture & Regional Planning, Dr. Sumana Gupta and Dr. Anuradha Choudry of IIT Kharagpur, whose guidance led us to this opportunity, and to Mr. Anand Narsimhan and the News18 team for envisioning this powerful confluence of media, academia, and policy.
And to Ajit Kumar Parab, the visionary behind Kalki Bioculture — his lifelong dedication to ecological harmony continues to inspire this movement.
What Lies Ahead
As this journey continues, we are filled with resolve and responsibility. Kalki Bioculture is more than a product — it is a movement toward restoring balance between humanity and nature. And with this national platform, the momentum has only just begun.
Let Yamuna rise. Let Bharat rise — in harmony with the Earth.
